GCSE results
WITH the best results in recent history, Year 11 Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi pupils certainly ensured that they left their mark with the final set of GCSE exam results from Llandysul’s historic school on the hill.
With a 28 per cent rise in the Level 2+ indicator since 2015 to 86 per cent, there was certainly room for celebration.
The school attained the highest Level 2+ result in Ceredigion.
Dianne Evans, interim headteacher, was extremely pleased with the outcome and praised the pupils for their efforts.
The core subjects achieved the highest percentage A* - C for many years with Welsh: 84.6 per cent, Mathematics: 86.2 per cent, English: 87.7 per cent and Science: 100 per cent.
Remarkably, 27.9 per cent of all the grades awarded were for grades A* and A, but Ms Evans and her colleagues recognised all the different levels of accomplishment within the school.
Rather than single out notable individual success stories, the school elected to celebrate the successes of the year as a whole.
“We would like to thank the pupils for their sustained hard work and to the whole staff for their input,” said a spokesperson.
“The bacon rolls and cups of tea in the mornings obviously worked their magic!
“Robert Jenkins, headteacher of Ysgol Bro Teifi, is looking forward to welcoming many of the pupils back to the sixth form and is certain that they will settle quickly in to their studies and make full use of the superb facilities on offer in their new school.
“Until then, congratulations and well done!”
