A VERY well attended bingo evening was held in the hall. The callers were Dai Davies and Melvyn Jones of Llangybi.
WI
THE ANNUAL post Christmas WI dinner was held at the Dolauco-thi Arms in Pumpsaint. Over 30 members with friends and partners attended and enjoyed a very pleasant social evening. The 2016 programme of meetings is well underway. The January meeting saw Solveig Fryknald-Lloyd talk about African gum boot dancing and involved the members in practicing the techniques. In February, the meeting featured a talk by Charlotte Allen of Troed rhiw goch, Llanfair, on homeopathy.
Village Hall
A REVIEW is taking place into the most effective way to modernise and improve the kitchen. This is being undertaken by a sub committee. Discussion is also taking place on how to improve the storage of equipment owned by the facility. The committee has been active in drawing up a wide range of social activities for the village. Community councilIT WAS reported that a planning application for the “retention of a shed for use as a bakery and com-pletion of associated works”, made by Lewis’ Bread Ltd, in regard to Riverside Barn, had been approved by the county council. The approval was given subject to a number of conditions, including the use of the building solely as a bakery and that no retail sales are permitted from the premises. Discussion also took place about community council land at y Gardde, in Cellan.
Show
PREPARATIONS are well underway for the next Llanfair Show. An appeal on Facebook for more people to join the organising committee was successful. Consideration has been given as to modifications to the different classes available and a redefinition of the guidance for those entering items. The show will take place on 29 August.
