Rotary Club
THE Rotary Club of Llanidloes’ newest member, Paul, conducted a presentation on Wednesday night to fellow Rotarians and guests.
The presentation highlighted Paul’s service in the Armed Forces and consisted of a slide show and chat, with personal accounts from operations in the Gulf and the Balkans.
Paul has supported the Rotary over the years with the Across Wales Walk and officially joined the club in February of this year.
The motto of the Rotary is Service above Self, which gives people like Paul an avenue to continue serving their community, and also replaces the fantastic fellowship that Paul would have experienced whilst serving in the forces.
Anyone interested in the Rotary can find out more by viewing their Facebook page, Llanidloes Rotary, or visit their website at www.llani dloes.rotary1180.org.

Drama tour
A DRAMA tour aimed at teaching youngsters about responsibility and littering will visit Llanidloes High School as part of its 19th nationwide tour.
Bin It! will perform at the school on Friday, 6 November, as part of the tour to show students the impact of littering and get them to change their behaviour.
The show, which has won awards, sees a team of actors engage and educate youngsters about the problem of litter.
It was developed by the Wrigley Company along with specialist education consultancy Rapport and is aimed at 11 to 13-year-olds.
A spokesperson said: “Bin It! encourages youngsters to think about why people litter, reflect on their behaviour and emphasises the importance of caring for their local area and to take pride in where they live.
“Since the Bin It! tour began, the programme has visited 460 schools in the UK, reaching over 78,000 pupils.
“Evaluation of last year’s Bin It! tour showed that up to six weeks after the show 53 per cent of children who had seen the show said they now bin their litter often.
“Bin It! uses a team of actors to engage and education young people about the problem of litter. This hands-on approach encourages pupils to make positive choices about the responsible disposal of litter in their community.”

The £285 raised was presented to the Rotary Club of Llanidloes president, Peter McCready, as a donation towards the Rotary shelter box appeal for Nepal (see picture, above).
