Rotary
LLANIDLOES Rotary Club will once again host their annual Giant Easter Egg raffle. Rotarian Ivan Evans has organised this event for the last seven years with the club donating 10 Giant Easter Eggs to local establishments. The proprietors can choose which charity they would like to raffle their egg for. Last year’s raffle raised an outstanding £1,550 for charity. The Rotarians conducted their Purple Crocus collec-tion last Friday in support of eradicating Polio. This has been a Rotary aim since 1979, with Polio being eradicated from all but two countries worldwide. Last Friday’s collection was £222.93. The club will decide at their next meeting whether to round this figure up in the knowledge that Bill and Melissa Gates will treble all amounts raised in support of this cause. The club thanked everyone who donated and the Co-op for allowing the collection to take place. Tuesday marked the 111th anniversary of the Rotary.
