Disability Sailing and Kayaking

CLYWEDOG sailing club are holding a Disability sailing and kayaking day on Saturday, 18 June ,from 10am till 4pm at the Sailing Club on Llyn Clywedog. Sail ability boats and sit on kayaks will be available, as well as the club’s access and sunbird dinghies. Special Service for the Queen

TO MARK the Queen’s official 90th birthday celebrations, there will be a special Civil Service of Thanksgiving at St Idloes Church, led by the Churches Together in Llanidloes. This takes place on Sunday, 12 June, at 11am. Everyone is welcome to this special occasion.

St John Ambulance Open Day

SATURDAY, 11 June, 10am to 2pm at the Gro, St John Ambulance Wales, Llanidloes Division, will be holding their open day. There will be kids’ activities, BBQ, fun for all ages, six hour CPR Relay, Raffle, cake and bottle stall, car wash and ‘how many balloons in the ambulance’.If you want to meet new people, learn new skills, improve your CV and save lives, come along to this open day and find out more about what St John Ambulance do, and how you can make a difference.

Bingo in aid of Tenovus

THERE WILL be bingo in aid of Tenovus Cancer care on Wednesday, 22 June, at the Rugby Club. Doors Open 7.30pm and eyes down 8pm. 50p entry for adults includes tea/coffee and biscuit.

Arwystli Society

AT THE Arwystli Society meeting on May 25, held at the Church Hall, Peter Ferguson JP and Stephen Pembroke JP, gave an informative talk on being Magistrates. Stephen started by giving a potted history of the Magistracy dating back to the Magna Carta, and bringing it up to date with explanations of its members, their diversity, local magistracy in Welshpool and their sittings and powers.Peter followed on with a powerpoint presentation on the effects of criminal activity and the court processes once a crime has been committed. It was a participative session that went down well with the society’s membership. Wheelbarrow Race

LLANIDLOES friends of the school, present a wheelbarrow race on Saturday, 9 July. It starts from the Angel pub at 12pm, teams of 2 (one must be over 16), £5 per team, registration forms from the High School Office, Lion Pub and Woosnam Newsagents. All money raised goes towards supporting Llanidloes High School.

Queen’s 90th Birthday

WOOSNAM & Davies News have got lots planned for the shop to help Llanidloes Celebrate this very Royal special day on 11 June, with Children’s colouring competition, lucky dip, tombola, adults royal themed quiz sheet, freebies to give away, also a slice of very royal cake, cake, cake and more cake (we always like to feed you up on the special days in Llani). Coffee Morning for Noah’s Ark

THERE WILL be a Coffee Morning in aid of Noah’s Ark, Cardiff Children’s’ Hospital Charity, on Saturday, 11 June, at Chatwood House, Longbridge Street. 10.00am to 12.30pm. Cake Stall. Plant Stall. Raffle. Bottle Stall. Animal Balloons. Free Admission.

Llanidloes Rotary Club

Llanidloes Rotarian, Stephen Cox, from Staylittle, plans to cross the waters of Llyn Clywedog Dam in a tiny coracle, an ancient form of watercraft originally used for fishing. Stephen’s challenge will be to cross the lake at the end of June or beginning of July (weather permitting), from the sailing club to Bwlch-y-gle on the opposite side which is a distance of approximately 1.25 miles.Stephen is raising funds for The One N-able Disability Sports Group which gives both adults and young people the opportunity to take part in multi sports activities.
