THE monthly meeting will be held at St Idloes Church Hall on Thursday, 16 June, at 2pm.New members are always welcome.

Carnival rounders

THERE will be carnival rounders at the cricket club on Friday, 24 June, at 6pm.Eight people in a team (adults only), can include two of secondary school age. £16 per team, with proceeds going to Llanidloes Carnival. There will also be a bar and BBQ.Call Katie Hamer on 07482 191772 to enter a team.

Coffee morning

THERE will be a coffee morning on Saturday, 18 June, from 10am to noon at Chatwood in Longbridge St.It is hosted by St Idloes Church in aid of Hope House.

Dog show

NEWTOWN and District Canine Society presents a Companion Dog Show in aid of Furever Homes at the community centre on Sunday, 31 July.Entries are taken from 11am and judging starts at noon.Diane Davies (Orlov) will judge the pedigree and novelty classes, and the junior handling classes will be judged by Mrs C Norman (Normansville).There will be a raffle and hot and cold refreshments.

Trinity Church

REV Jenny Garrard is retiring on 30 June.A service of release is being held in Trinity Church on that day at 7pm.A warm welcome is extended to all.

Rugby club

THE AGM of Llanidloes Rugby Club will be held at the club at 6pm on 10 July. All members welcome.

Disability sailing and kayaking

CLYWEDOG Sailing Club is holding a disability sailing and kayaking day on Saturday, 18 June, from 10am to 2pm at the sailing club on Llyn Clywedog.Boats and sit-on kayaks will be available, as well as the club’s Access and Sunbird dinghies.The day is organised by the club in conjunction with Anglers Afloat and Powys County Council.For any enquiries, call Keith Rollinson (sailing) on 01686 640305 or Martin Hurst (kayaking) on 01597 824 249.Alternatively, visit the website at clywedogsailing.org.uk

Bingo

THERE will be bingo in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care on Wednesday, 22 June, at the rugby club. Doors open at 7.30pm and eyes down at 8pm. Entry for adults is 50p and includes tea/coffee and a biscuit.

Arwystli Society

AT THE meeting on 25 May at the church hall, Peter Ferguson JP and Stephen Pembroke JP gave an informative talk on being magis-trates.Stephen started by giving a potted history of the magistracy dating back to the Magna Carta and bringing it up to date with explanations of its members, their diversity, local magistracy in Welshpool and their sittings and powers.Peter followed on with a Power-Point presentation on the effects of criminal activity and the court processes once a crime has been committed.It was a participative session that went down well with the society’s membership.The Arwystli Society meet monthly at the church hall and more information can be obtained from Christina Edwards on 07791 987396.

Concert in the Park

THE Rotary Club of Llanidloes is proud to present the 18th annual Concert in the Park.It will feature the talented pupils of Llanidloes High School, past and present.At Severn Porte if dry or Llanidloes Church if wet, the concert starts at 7pm on Friday, 8 July. Admission is free.

Wheelbarrow race

LLANIDLOES Friends of the School present a wheelbarrow race on carnival Saturday, 9 July.It starts from the Angel pub at noon. Teams of two are required with one of them over 16. Entry is £5 per team.Registration forms are available from the high school office, Lion pub and Woosnam Newsagents.
