Community council

THE COUNCIL met on 2 December to discuss the correspondence received and concerns raised by the community.Replies had been received from Ceredigion County Council as follows: clearance work was due to be under-taken on the Glanyrafon Terrace stream in the week beginning 16 November; the request for a street sign on Church Street had been declined for the time being due to financial constraints. The community council has asked for a breakdown of the cost of erecting a sign in order to, possibly, make a contribution towards its cost. In response to the request by the county council that it would consider holding a recycling day for small electrical items in the village, it was told that the memorial hall car park would be available for use in January. Cllr Rees-Evans had been making enquiries about the cost of defibrillators. It was decided that he would look into the possibility of holding a meeting of local businesses and organisations to discuss ways of raising the money required (about £400 each defibrillator). Notice was received of planning application A150855 to build an extension to the front of the house at 5 Pentre Isaf. No objections were raised. Planning application A140464 – the retrospective planning application for 39 and 40, Heol Isfoel has been refused on the grounds of the significant adverse impact on residential amenity.Information was received to say that issues relating to public rights of way should be reported on the problem reporting page of the County Council’s website. The Ceredigion Crime and Disorder Strategic Assessment for 2016 was discussed and completed. The Business Transformation Con-sultation was discussed, this relates to closure of some library services, level of council tax and grants to external organisations and can be seen on the County Council’s website.Permission was given to pay the clerk £80.72 for the expenses incurred during the year in buying printer paper and ink, stamps and envelopes. Permission was also given to pay the Memorial Hall £72 – the rent for the use of the hall for meetings in 2015.A decision was taken to ask the neighbourhood policeman to the next meeting as complaints had been received about parked cars. The other area of concern that arises frequently is about the hedges and trees that need to be cut back – this month it was on the road between Hafod Newydd and Llanon – these concerns are always passed on to the County Council. The next meeting will take place on 6 January at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
