MACHYNLLETH-BASED charity Advice Mid Wales has appointed a new general manager.

Cyril Breeze Evans, previously a community housing officer for Mid Wales Housing, has taken up the role and will be responsible for funding as well as the leadership of AMW’s small team of staff and volunteers.

AMW has been running since 1983 using highly-trained and experienced advisors to help people cope with, and overcome, many of the problems faced in everyday living including debt, welfare benefits, housing, employment, consumer, relationships and pension issues.

Bill McCann, chairman of the trustees, said: “Cyril’s appointment strengthens our ability to meet the needs of a growing number of people throughout mid Wales who come to us for help and advice.

“His professionalism, knowledge and understanding of these needs coupled with his career background will greatly benefit AMW, our staff, volunteers and clients.”

Prior to his years spent with Mid Wales Housing, Cyril was for 10 years co-ordinator of Communities First in the Bro Dyfi area and left only when the funding was coming to an end.

“It was during this time, as well as my time spent as the first superintendent-registrar of Aberystwyth’s private crematorium, that I realised how worthwhile and personally satisfying it is helping and guiding people through stressful situations,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to increasing our funding base as well as attracting new volunteers.”
