THE Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition is an annual favourite at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, but this year it has a special twist.
Local photographer Tim Strang is waving the flag for Aberystwyth with his photograph Roma Girl, amongst the array of captivating prints from all over the world.
“I was very pleasantly surprised to be selected as a finalist in the RPS 158th International Print Exhibition,” he said, “and it was the icing on the cake to learn that Aberystwyth Arts Centre would be one of the few locations in the UK to host this prestigious touring show.”
Nearly 5,000 images were submitted for this year’s RPS International Print Exhibition – the world’s longest running photography competition, held almost every year since 1854.
Entry was open internationally for people of any age or photographic level, across a range of subjects and using a variety of techniques, including traditional photographic processes.
The panel of esteemed photographers, curators and publishers faced the difficult task of short-listing the prints to a final 100 that offer something that will challenge your ideas and capture your imagination.
Simon Roberts HonFRPS, 2015 selector, said: “I believe we have selected an exemplary range of work, reflecting different age groups, nationalities and the varying interests, methodology and vibrant aesthetics of the photographic medium today.”
Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition can be viewed at Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Gallery 2 until 23 January.
