Last Tuesday, 9 June, Ceredigion council held a remote Cabinet meeting which proved a major publicity disaster for the council.

Having promised to provide a translation service for the meeting that failed to materialise, the meeting was subsequently held almost totally in Welsh. This despite an undertaking in the agenda documents that if there were technical problems the meeting would be conducted in English.

This resulted in a storm of protests on social media, even from Welsh speakers.

I wonder how the English speaking councillors attending the meeting were able to follow it. It raises the question of whether they were privileged to have translation and only the peasants were denied.

If the English-speaking councillors present were unable to hear a translation then that must call into question as to whether the meeting was conducted legally.
