IN the period 23 September to 14 October, under Powys County Council’s scheme of delegation, county planners have approved the following applications: Installation of two wind turbines with a blade tip height of 22.5m and associated control cabinets, land at Hafod y Foel, Llanbrynmair; extension of existing car park serving an existing health centre, Glantwymyn Health Centre, Cemmaes Road; change of use of part of first floor area (associated with the property) from class A1 (retail use) to class A3 use (restaurant and café) to provide additional seating area for existing café on ground floor, Quarry Shop Café, Maengwyn Street, Machynlleth; listed building consent for/and the conversion of storage space to living accommodation and internal and external alterations, Pen y Bont, Cemmaes Road; erection of detached garage to replace existing garden shed (to be demolished) to provide secure accommodation for vehicle and secure storage and workbench space, Pendeintir, Pandy Road, Llanbrynmair; certificate of lawful development for a proposed use or development Section 192 – single storey extension for a modern kitchen, 38 Brickfield Street, Machynlleth.
Exhibitions
EXHIBITIONS at the Tabernacle Museum of Modern Art Wales Cymru include, in the Ruralist Room, Reversephotospectives by Mark Robert Davey, while in the foyer is the exhibition The Way I See It, paintings by Helen Baines.
In the Pulpit Room is an exhibition celebrating the life and works of Geoff Ogden (1929-1997), and in the Owen Owen Gallery and on the bridge is the exhibition Selected Works 1970-2015 by Barrie Cook.
Sophie Myfanwy Wellan’s exhibition The Wisdom of Wool can be viewed in the Tannery Gallery and, completing the current programme of exhibitions, Howard Bowcott’s sculptures Raising Stones are in the Sculpture Space.
The files from Dyfi Valley 2000 are available for inspection in the Green Room when it is not being used for meetings or piano rehearsals. The Taliesin Mosaics are also on show here.
The Mela (Festival) Mosaic, created by Martin Cheek to a design by Balraj Khanna, is in the entrance lobby to the auditorium.
Admission to the galleries, which are open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm, is free. Donations welcome.
Ecodyfi AGM
ECODYFI (Dyfi Eco Valley Partnership) is extending a warm welcome to its annual general meeting at the Tabernacle Machynlleth on Wednesday, 11 November, starting at 7pm.
Simultaneous translation facilities will be provided so that you may use the language of your choice.
Pool league
THE Machynlleth and District Winter Pool League got off to a great start on Thursday, 15 October with ten teams in each of two divisions.
Division 2 side Foresters were easily the first week‘s highest scorers with a 14-1 result.

Garden club
THE next meeting of Machynlleth & District Garden Club will be held at Machynlleth Bowling Club on Tuesday, 3 November, starting at 7.30pm. Katie Hastings will give a talk on Dyfi land Share and Edible Mach/Mach Maethlon.
