Lunchtime Concert

TALENTED pupils from Ysgol Bro Hyddgen will give a lunch-time concert at the Tabernacle on Wednesday, 25 May at 12pm. Admission is free, but a collection will be taken in support of the Tabernacle Trust Educational Foundation.

Awards are offered annually in July to students who live in an area bounded by the Dyfi Valley, who are progressing from secondary education to a high level course in an arts subject.

Bowls

MACHYNLLETH bowlers were to the fore as Montgomeryshire CBA opened their county campaign in great style to consign their county rivals Ceredigion CBA and Mid Wales CBA to the minor placings in the annual Three Counties challenge at Berriew BC on Sunday, 1 May.The Llynlloedd men Andrew Fleming, Deacon Price, Garry Price, David Rowlands, Mark Rowlands and county captain Jonathan Taylor all featured in winning rinks and so impressed the county selectors that, together with club-colleagues Nigel Fleming, Thomas Jenkins and Richie Williams, were named for the county team to play Mid Wales at Machynlleth on Sunday, 22 May. Andrew, Garry and Jonathan were also highly impressive in the recent WBA eight-man double rink competition, losing to winners Monmouthshire by one shot.

Council Meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council’s next ordinary monthly meeting is on Tuesday, 31 May at 6.30pm, in Plas Machynlleth.Formal notice of the meeting and agenda will appear on the council’s notice board in the Plas foyer seven days before the meeting. The pub-lic and press are welcome to attend.

Mach Maethlon

EDIBLE Mach Maethlon has become a new connected family under the new collective name Mach Maethlon.Joining with Dyfi Landshare and Green Isle Growers, you’ll see more of them over the summer.Check out www.machmaethlon.org for more information.The group kicked off their spring/summer gardening programme with a session at the fire station site, Craigfryn recently. And if you’ve ever wondered about having your own allotment, not got the kit, knowledge or not sure if you’ll keep it up, Edible Mach Maethlon will be furthering its quest to make Mach edible by bringing you a community owned and community built allotment.Come along to our event on Sunday, 15 May, 11am-5pm on the Plas grounds.Further build days will take place on 22 May and 12 June.

Civic Society

MACHYNLLETH and District Civic Society’s next executive committee bi-monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, 19 May at the Tabernacle, Heol Pen’rallt, at 7pm. A warm welcome is extended to all of the society’s members.

Gerddi Gardens

GERDDI Bro Ddyfi gardens enjoyed a highly successful market-day stall on Wednesday, 11 May, raising a fantastic £115 from the sale of plants and a very generous donation of £50.Lead worker Kate Doubleday said: “The volunteers and committee are very grateful for the public’s support during the day and for the support that we receive at other events, including those at our gardens on the Plas grounds.”
