Bowls

MACHYNLLETH bowlers continue to find favour with the Montgomeryshire CBA selectors as eight bowlers, namely, Andrew Fleming, Nigel Fleming, Mark Gaskell, Thomas Jenkins, Deacon Price, Garry Price, David Rowlands and Jonathan Taylor will line up to play the Vale of Glamorgan on Llynlloedd green on Sunday, 17 July.Five of the club’s seniors were included in the county seniors’ side to take on Mid Wales CBA seniors at Llanidloes on July 12. Catching the selectors’ eyes were John Astley, Barry Fleming, Ivor Price, Brendan Rogers and David Rowlands.Machynlleth continued their climb in the Montgomeryshire CBA Division One with a 16-shot victory at Llanidloes, gaining five points to Llanidloes’ two on 7 July.

Council Meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council will hold its next ordinary monthly meeting at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 25 July, at 6.30pm. Formal notice of the meeting, including agenda items, will be placed on the council’s noticeboard in the Plas foyer. The public and press are welcome.

Food Bank AGM

BANC Bwyd Bro Ddyfi Food Bank will hold their AGM at the Care Centre, Forge Road, Machynlleth, at 7pm on Thursday, 14 July. All welcome.

Bro Ddyfi Gardens

ON Saturday, 2 July, Machynlleth’s mayor Cllr Anthony Jones, together with his wife Evelyn Jones, welcomed everyone to Gerddi Bro Ddyfi Gardens’ celebration of National Meadows Day.The mayor said how pleased they were to open the group’s lovely gardens on the Plas grounds. He congratulated all the volunteers, committee and friends for providing such beautiful and therapeutic surroundings for the young and not so young to enjoy.

Civic Society

A BI-MONTHLY executive committee meeting of the Machynlleth and District Civic Society will held at the Tabernacle, Heol Penrallt, on Friday, 15 July.The meeting is open to all members of the society.

Rugby Club

FUNDRAISERS at Machynlleth Rugby Club have raised over £900 towards a defibrillator for the club.The horse racing evening was held at the club on Saturday, 25 June with Emily Booth saying the evening had been a success.She said: “There was a good turnout of people who helped to make the night a success. We would like to thank everyone who made the night possible, including the sponsors, horse own-ers and those who helped out on the night.”
