Historian Wendy Morgan has published the second edition of her book, Caeheulon and the Parish of Penegoes, adding new sources and including many more homes.
The first edition was published in 2003, and was already a significant and comprehensive work, including historical records of all the houses in the extensive parish of Penegoes up to 1901.
This new edition includes material from the 1911 census, the Llanloddian papers at the National Library of Wales, and Michael Gibbons’ A survey of Cyfeiliog.
The addition of a number of homes in the neighbouring parishes of Darowen and Uwchygarreg will be of interest to many readers, as will many fascinating quotes taken from the Cambrian News of the day!
The publication coincided with the author’s 91st birthday. Happy Birthday Wendy, and congratulations on such an impressive achievement.
An invaluable resource of historical records that bring to life the story of a Montgomeryshire farmhouse and a country parish in mid-Wales, Caeheulon and the Parish of Penegoes, published by Coch-y-bonddu Books, Machynlleth (01654 702837 / www.anglebooks.com) is available for £25.
