A BALA man has been sent to prison following a breach of an injunction order.

Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG) secured the injunction order following several reports of Edmund Williams, of Plassey Street, causing nuisance on the Blaenddôl housing estate in Bala and being abusive towards CCG employees.

The order banned Williams from entering the estate, but he was found guilty on 2 February at Wrexham County Court of breaching the order on two separate occasions in December 2015.

Williams did not appear at the hearing, but was sentenced in his absence to 35 days in jail.

He was arrested and taken to prison on Friday, 10 February.

Geraint Jones, CCG’s neighbourhood services manager, said: “We worked closely with our partners at North Wales Police and our integral team to secure this committal. We take all anti-social and criminal matters seriously and will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.

“Tenant safety is a priority for us, and we will do all within our power to protect our vulnerable tenants.

“It’s about helping to improve the quality of life for our tenants and if we can stop this sort of behaviour, everyone benefits.”

Chief Inspector Mark Armstrong, of North Wales Police, added: “Mr Williams has caused issues for some residents in the area for some time, and to see him receiving time in prison for this disruption, and the backing of the courts in supporting the granting of an injunction to address specifically his behaviour on the estate and surrounding area, should send a very strong message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.”

The injunction order will remain in force following Williams’ release from prison.
