A LLANYBYDDER woman expects to have raised at least £1,500 for a cancer charity by having her head shaved.
Maria Pollard, of Drefach, underwent Brave the Shave at Salon Gem in Lampeter last Thursday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I just wanted to do something for cancer as it seems more and more people are being affected with this, as was my family,” she told the Cambrian News.
“I’m not great at sports and thought this was something I could do and achieve in order to raise money for Macmillan, so I am pleased that I have managed to do this.
“My goal was £1,000 and so far it’s at £1,400, but I have some cash to pay in and a couple of people who are waiting for payday to donate.
“It will definitely be a minimum of £1,500 once I’ve paid in the cash I have, although I’ve still got some to collect.”
