A COURAGEOUS runner is back in training to raise money and awareness of his incredibly rare condition.

Mark Edwards, of Tywyn, suffers from Phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic condition that is congenital.

Only one in 10,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with PKU, and maintaining the necessary low-protein diet can be a “huge challenge”.

The 33-year-old, who works for Brighter Foods in Tywyn, will take part in the Great Manchester Run 2017 on 28 May for NSPKU, a charity devoted to raising awareness and funding research into the condition.
