An Aberystwyth man is to appear on a new TV show encouraging the people of Wales to get ’FFIT’.

Mathew Jones is originally from Pontypool but now lives in Aberystwyth, where he works for Plaid Cymru.

He will be one of five leaders in a new series of FFIT Cymru, which follows the trials and tribulations of weight loss and lifestyle changes.

Weight has been a persistent problem for Mathew’s family. Having turned 30 years old, he believes now is the time to do something about his weight, and he hopes his family will join him on the journey.

But to achieve that, Mathew must first confront his lifelong disdain for exercise.

Registered dietitian Sioned Quirke said: "I can’t wait to start working with the five leaders we have this year.

"They come from all walks of life. They all have their problems, but they all have lovely stories.

"The whole point of FFIT Cymru is to encourage our five leaders to transform their lives, in the hope that they can inspire the nation to join them. We saw it happen last year and hopefully even more people will join us this year."

The programme starts on Tuesday, 2 April, at 8pm on S4C
