A TYWYN man has successfully climbed Cader Idris three times in under 12 hours for a Meirionnydd search and rescue team.
Matthew Wilkes, 49, completed the walk years after he almost lost his leg in a horrific road accident.
The handyman, who climbed nearly 10,000 feet collectively, has raised hundreds of pounds for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team who were there on Sunday, 26 June to support Matthew.
In his 20s, Matthew was involved in a severe road accident in which he nearly lost his left leg. Admitting there are still days where he “can’t even walk”, Matthew was thrilled to complete the taxing trek.
“I did it in just under 12 hours which I am very happy with as it exceeded all my expectations,” the 49-year-old told the Cambrian News.
