MACHYNLLETH mayor Tony Jones has hailed his annual Christmas Fair as a success.

More than £1,000 was raised for Future Play at the event which was attended by both young and older people in the town.

He said: “There were many stalls, a very good turn out. Also many of the public came there. All profits went to Future Play and I was told they made over £1,000.

"I am pleased with everybody that put a lot of effort in to make this event a great success, especially Julie Humphreys, the Plas manager.”

Cllr Jones also hosted his annual pensioners’ Christmas lunch at Y Plas with Ysgol Bro Hyddgen pupils of various ages serving the guests and providing some entertainment.
