Merioneth Horticultural Society

TWENTY-NINE members from eight affiliated gardening clubs attended the AGM lunch at The Red Lion, Dinas Mawddwy, on 13 February. Chairperson Tom Edwards welcomed all, apologies were received and 2015 AGM minutes were read and signed off.Officers presented their reports and the 2016 officers were elected as follows: Ann Griffiths, president; Tom Edwards, chair; Quentin Deakin, vice-chair; Jean Westerman, treasurer; Brenda W Owen, secretary; and Lisa Allsop, IT and promotions officer (new post).Eurwyn Roberts introduced Nellie Wyn Hughes from Dolweddelan club, who received a long-service medal from Ann Griffiths, for her 29 years of service to her club.Quentin put forward ideas to promote the society; discussed the idea for the annual visit, for exam-ple to a specialist grower; a plant and seed swap; and asked for ideas to generate interest with younger people.The next meeting open to all members will be at Llanelltyd Village Hall on 19 March at 2pm.This meeting will be used to put together the 2016 show schedule and to compose the society consti-tution.
