The Boys’ Brigade is launching a group in Aberystwyth, and is seeking new members to join them.
First Aberystwyth Company launches on 4 February and will offer fun activities for children and young people, aged from five to 11.
The group will be based in Holy Trinity Church, meeting in the Buarth Hall on Stanley Road.
The Boys’ Brigade, the UK’s longest-running voluntary uniformed youth organisation, serves boys aged five to 19 across the UK and offers opportunities to discover new things, meet new people, and explore the Christian faith.
Vaughan Staples of The Boys’ Brigade England and Wales said: “This past year has seen the creation of new BB groups across the UK, which is great news for the organisation and for the lives of hundreds of young people.
“This year, we are especially excited for the opening a new company in Aberystwyth.”
Timothy Eldon, captain of First Aberystwyth, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this group in Aberystwyth and to be able to engage with young people through a programme of fun events and activities.
“People may have fond memories of the company that used to meet in St Paul’s Methodist some years ago and we are privileged to be taking up the name of that company again, we hope to reignite the BB movement here. We’re currently recruiting new members and leaders to join us in the adventure of the Boys’ Brigade.”
First Aberystwyth Company will operate the following sessions:
• Anchor Boys (five to eight-year-olds) Monday, 6pm to 7pm, Buarth Hall, Stanley Road
• Junior Section (eight to 11-year-olds) Monday, 7.15pm to 8.45pm, Buarth Hall, Stanley Road
Parents are welcome to bring their children along on the day or email [email protected] for more information.
