Madam,
Ceredigion’s MP wants all politicians to find a Brexit compromise. The referendum in 2016 put to the electorate of the UK was unambiguous - Remain a member of the European Union or Leave the European Union. The vote to leave the EU won the day. That happens in a democracy. An orderly departure should have been simple. It has been anything but.
Why is this? It is because of our negotiating team (mainly Remainers) and the EU bureaucrats (all Remainers) and the utter shambles in the House of Commons where, apparently, 63 per cent of MPs are Remainers and do not understand the meaning of the ‘democracy’. Our MPs, including Ceredigion’s, have tried their hardest to thwart Brexit.
The mess we are in is down to the political elite. I hope that many MPs from all parties get their P45 at the next election. This, of course, will not happen in Ceredigion as both the parties, Liberals and Plaid Cymru, do not believe in democracy. Remember, this was not a constituency by constituency referendum but a national one. If it had been, Brexit would have been completed by now.
Yours etc, Chris Samuel, William Street, Aberystwyth
