Millie Boyd, a pupil at Ysgol Llanbedrog, was inspired by her mum Emma, who volunteers at Pwllheli foodbank, to help people who are struggling in today’s testing economic climate.

Millie sits on her school council and ,when asked which charity the school should support, she was quick to suggest the foodbank where she had helped her mum serve people over the last few months.

The entrepreneurial eight-year-old wrote a letter which was sent to all the pupils and parents at Ysgol Llanbedrog who were quick to donate boxes full of goods and treats for the charity.

Not stopping there, Millie then proceeded to help pack and distribute the donations and ensured they went to those who needed them most.

Emma, who started volunteering at the foodbank in St Peter’s Church in Pwllheli in January, was “super proud” of her daughter as well as her other children Olivia, 10, and Felix, six, who were also instrumental in Millie’s campaign.

“If I’m honest, I’m really proud of everyone who donated and all the schoolchildren who helped. It’s such a lovely school and area,” the mother-of-three said.
