A LLANIDLOES councillor has labelled a break in collecting Christmas rubbish in the town as “ridiculous and irresponsible”.
Powys council rearranged black bag waste collections over the Christmas and New Year period, leaving residents waiting nearly a month between collections.
Cllr Gareth Morgan said: “My last black bag wheelie bin collection was on 18 December and the next will be on 8 January.
“This is most inconvenient. I know the ‘experts’ say you should have no problem if you recycle, but that argument is rubbish.
“My family is keen on recycling and we have a problem. In my opinion three weeks is bad enough, a month is ridiculous and irresponsible.
“Prior to this many people were having problems with the collection of medical waste and were being put under great stress, and what is more it is high risk from a health aspect.
“A decent collection system is needed for them above all.”
Three-weekly bin collections started in the county in November, despite two-thirds of residents in the council consultation saying they “wouldn’t be able to manage” if the less frequent service was introduced.
