MORE stormy weather is on the way for all of Wales with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for wind on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Gusts of up to 60mph are expected along exposed coasts and hills across all of Wales when Storm Francis sweeps across the country.

A yellow warning has been issued from 9am on Tuesday through until 9am on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Met Office says: “Storm Francis will being some very strong winds leading to disruption to travel and power supplies along with potential damage to trees.

“A spell of strong winds is likely to develop across the southwest of England and Wales on Tuesday morning, before spreading east across other parts of England and Wales overnight, clearing into the North Sea on Wednesday.

“Gusts of wind are likely to exceed 50 mph for quite a few places, with exposed coasts and hills seeing gusts in excess of 60 mph.

“Whilst not exceptional, winds this strong are unusual for August and they will be accompanied by some heavy rain in places, with possible transport disruption and impacts on outdoor activities.”

Stormy weather and above average temperatures will continue into Autumn according to a long-range weather forecast issued this week by Accuweather.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alan Reppert says that the United Kingdom will face an Autumn of both above-average temperatures and above-average precipitation.

“The warmth will battle the threat for rainfall and cooler weather over much of the British Isles,” Reppert said.

“This will lead to a near to even a bit above average autumn for temperatures, and some areas may see well above-average rainfall as tropical systems shift to windstorms later in the season.”

“Warm conditions in the United Kingdom will ward off rainy and cooler weather in the beginning of the autumn, but a shift in the middle of the season will usher in above-average rainfall later in the season.”
