A BRAVE mother has competed in this year’s Race the Train event in memory of her teenage daughter.
In October 2016, Tywyn was left reeling following the death of a “strong, kind-hearted and inspirational” 17-year-old, six months after she was struck down by a rare form of cancer.
Much-loved Elisha Carter, who was diagnosed shortly after her 17th birthday, spent months in hospital battling the disease, which had ravaged her spine, kidneys and lungs and left her paralysed from the waist down.
She passed away just weeks after returning home for the first time.
Elisha’s mum Emma has since declared she will run the London Marathon next year for CLIC Sargent, a cancer charity for young people.
The marathon, at 26 miles, will equate to one mile for every week that her brave daughter was ill for plus 200 metres “for good luck”.
Emma has already raised over £1,400 for the worthy cause but hopes to reach her target of £2,000.
As part of her training, she joined hundreds of other runners in Tywyn this year to participate in the annual Race the Train event.
