Snowdonia has taken the top spot in The Best UK winter walking destinations perfect for a New Year’s Day adventure.

Wherever you are in the UK there’s bound to be a stunning wintry walk nearby, but accommodation specialists Lakelovers, have named the Snowdonia’s Glyders as the best place for a wintry walk on 1 January.

The Glyders take their name from the mountain range’s two highest mountains Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach and are a major feature of the Snowdonia National Park. The mountain range is a well-loved Welsh wonder with each mountain worthwhile ascending to experience some of Wales’ best scrambling and rock climbing available.

One of the most popular trails in The Glyders is the Devil’s Kitchen route between Y Garn and Glyder Fawr. This is one of the most daring ascents in Snowdonia, however, the summit offers a magical view to behold, making the journey well worth it. There are several routes through The Devil’s Kitchen, all within four to five miles hike with some more challenging ascents including steep, rocky paths that thousands of adventurers love to take on each year. In second place is Dartmoor Tors, Dartmoor National Park. The Old Man of Coniston in the Lake District was named third.
