An appeal to save a historic Snowdonia youth hostel has gained the support of a legendary mountaineer.
Sir Chris Bonington CBE has lent his voice to an appeal to raise £2 million to save Bryn Gwynant, on the outskirts of Beddgelert.
Owned and operated by YHA (England & Wales), the youth hostel has provided accommodation to hundreds of thousands of adventurers, young people, school trips, groups, families and individuals since it was opened in 1959.
YHA is appealing to the public to help it raise at least £500,000 to enable it to get work started. YHA has committed to find the remaining balance from its own resources.
If the fundraising campaign is successful, the extensive refurbishment of the building and grounds will secure the future of the hostel for future generations.
