AN international award-winning movie made partly in Aberystwyth and partly in Nigeria will be screened at the arts centre this week.

‘Dry’, produced by Next Page Productions in partnership with Aberystwyth University Film School, will be shown Friday to Monday (20-23 May).

Written and directed by Stephanie Linus and line produced by Dr Akanimo Odon and Murtza Ali-Ghaznavi (both International Officers of Aberystwyth University), Aberystwyth University staff and students made up part of the cast and crew of this film.

Dry, described as a powerful drama about clashing cultures, abuse and under-age marriage, has picked up multiple awards including the following:

Best protagonist award at the Bentoville Film Festival Arkansas USA.

Three top awards at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards including Best Overall Movie in Africa.

Programmers’ Award for Narrative Feature at the recently concluded Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, USA.

Movie with the best social message; Best Cinematography; Best Screenplay and Best Child Actress all at the Best Of Nigeria (BON) Awards

The movie shows at the Arts Centre Cinema on Friday, 20 May at 6pm, Saturday, 21 May at 6pm, Sunday, 22 May at 5.30pm and Monday, 23 May at 8.15pm.
