MP Ben Lake was given a warm welcome when he joined brain injury survivors and their families at Headway Ceredigion’s monthly drop-in session in the Community Room at Tesco, Aberystwyth.
Headway Ceredigion meets every month to offer support, information and guidance to people living with the impact of acquired brain injury.
Mr Lake said: “Everyone at Headway Ceredigion is committed to helping people who, for whatever reason, find themselves living with an acquired brain injury. Their efforts are making a real difference to people from Aberystwyth and the surrounding area.
“It was a pleasure to meet them and to learn more about acquired brain injury.
“I will certainly take up the needs of people living with the effects of acquired brain injury in Parliament, when I can.”
Lynda Allison, one of the committee members at Headway Ceredigion, said: “We were very pleased to have a chance to tell our MP about the needs of brain injury survivors.
“The effects of brain injury spread into every area of life, from health services and rehabilitation to dealing with disability benefits, work and personal relationships.
“People often say that after brain injury they feel as if they have become a different person, and that can make many areas of life more challenging.
“We are all volunteers at Headway Ceredigion and we are always looking for more people to join us.
“If anyone would like to find out more about joining our group or helping us, please come along to our session on Monday, 14 May or they can email [email protected].”
