Following the action in Lampeter (‘Die-in protest against 5G’, 11 July) and the very well attended talk on Thursday, we see that many local people are concerned about the untested roll-out of 5G communications technology.

The industry claims that 5G will give us so-called “smart cities” and the “Internet of Things”. But we believe the price of this will be far too high - causing serious, still-unquantified health problems for humans and all other biological beings.

Prof Martin Pall of Washington State University, who has extensively studied the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health for over 20 years, has said: “Putting in tens of millions of 5G antennae without a single biological test of safety has got to be about the stupidest idea anyone has had in the history of the world.”

A petition to the Welsh Assembly calling for a halt to the scheme and for public consultation in Wales now has over 2,000 signatures on Change.org. People should search for “Suspend 5G rollout“ if they wish to add their voice.
