A LONG-established and much-loved Lampeter music shop and DVD rental outlet is closing at the end of the month after falling victim to the changing times.
Hag’s, run from a former dental practice in Bridge Street, at one time was the place to go for west Wales music lovers.
The shop, owned by county councillor Hag Harris, also rented out hundreds of films over the weekend.
But Mr Harris revealed this week that the shop’s days had been numbered ever since the rise of the internet.
“It’s been like running a successful petrol station and garage on the A48 between Cardiff and Swansea and then having the M4 open,” he told the Cambrian News.
“Since the development of the internet, the writing has been well and truly on the wall.”
The shop was established in 1979 by two of Mr Harris’s friends, Dave Bardsley and Pete Smith.
“The business initially consisted of a number of boxes of LPs and singles kept under Dave’s bed,” recalled Mr Harris.
