THE five-year-old daughter of a Tywyn woman who emigrated to the United States is in dire need of expensive hospital treatment.
Katy Furneaux, who was born and raised in Tywyn before she moved across the Atlantic Ocean in 2003, has appealed to friends and family in the UK to help her daughter receive much-needed medical treatment.
Audriana – a very independent and sassy girl who loves to sing, dance, and read the Bible – is currently suffering from numerous problems with her brain.
She suffers wild mood swings, loss of vision and transient ischemic attacks or ‘ministrokes’. She was diagnosed after a routine trip to the optician where it was spotted something was amiss.
After being rushed to hospital, a CRT scan confirmed that Audriana would need to visit a neurologist and a cardiologist and undergo several medical routines in a bid to prevent further episodes.
Katy, who moved to the States to be with her father, is keen to get her daughter the correct treatment as urgently as possible but needs to fund-raise $5,000 (around £4,000) for private treatment as the US does not have a national health service.
“Audriana is in need of a lumbar puncture to remove some of the fluid and check the pressure, and an MRI, but her insurance is only accepted with certain specialists who cannot see her until next year,” Katy explained to the Cambrian News.
