A MUM-of-five from Lampeter has been so moved by scenes of famine in East Africa that she plans to raise money for charity by existing on a mere £1.50 for an entire week.

Aimee Graf, of Llangeitho, aims to make do on 21p a day – similar to the amount many East African families are currently living on.

For sustenance Aimee will be feeding on githeri, a Kenyan bean stew supplemented with a kilo of rice, 400 grammes of sweetcorn, half an onion and a garlic clove.

And throughout the seven days she will continue to make husband Alistair, a bus driver and mechanic, and their children - aged from three to eleven – their evening meal.

“Smelling their wonderful food is going to be difficult,” she admitted.
