A MOTHER who campaigned against illegal parking outside an Aberystwyth school has taken a parting swipe at the council and school as she announced she was leaving the area.
It was reported in the Cambrian News in December that Kelly Cable, whose children Chloe, nine, and Ellis, six, attended Plascrug School, was continuing her campaign for safety outside the school despite threats and intimidation from other parents.
After accusing the council of “backtracking” in March following the announcement that picking-up and dropping-off directly outside the school was allowed, Mrs Cable now says the school and council still show an unwillingness to address the issues she raised.
Among the measures Mrs Cable said the council had agreed to take were to improve signage, re-paint lines for disabled and taxi parking bays, erect a barrier outside the front of the school, and maintain the presence of civil enforcement officers, formerly known as traffic wardens.
“As far I am aware, no CEO has been there,” Mrs Cable told the Cambrian News this week. “Granted the parking has been a lot better, but the occasional presence wouldn’t hurt, especially as they said they would at the meeting."
A Ceredigion County Council spokesperson said: “Officers from the authority have had considerable communications with Mrs Cable in relation to issues that were of concern to her over an extended period of time."
