A MARCH in solidarity with mothers in war-torn countries has taken place.
A group of nine mothers and their children took part in a sponsored ‘slingathon’ to raise funds for Christian Aid Week, covering a marathon distance between them.
This year, Christian Aid Week is supporting displaced people; people who have had to flee their homes due to war or drought but remain within their own country.
The sponsored ‘slingathon’ was organised by Joy Hooper from Tywyn Baptist Church where most of the mothers and children attend weekly toddler groups.
Joy said: “We wanted to walk in solidarity with ‘displaced mums on the move’ by carrying our children on our backs.
“If anyone would like to make a donation please go to www.christianaid.org.uk/donate.”
The group walked from Morfa Mawddach on the Mawddach Trail across the Barmouth Bridge to Barmouth Elim Pentecostal Church where they were able to take a well earned break and refreshments before the return journey.
Collectively, the women walked over 26 miles on the day (16 May).
