THE MYSTERY of an Aberystwyth coaster which mistakenly featured a picture of the east Hill Cliff Railway in Hastings, Sussex, instead of the Constitution Hill Railway, has been solved.

This week the boss of the company responsible for making the coaster came forward to admit the error.

Paul Saunders of Bridgend company Pendragon, which makes holiday souvenirs for tourists, said the coasters were withdrawn from sale as soon as the error was noticed but some had already been sold.

The company has now remade the coaster and it is back on sale, but it still deliberately features a picture of New Quay beach because it was felt tourists who come to Aberystwyth would also visit New Quay.

The company is now asking Cambrian News readers to come up with a design for a new coaster promoting Aberystwyth which would go on general sale.
