Madam,

I refer to Patrick O’Brien’s Comment in last week’s Cambrian News. He reiterates that paying Price Waterhouse Cooper for recommendations that simply involve increasing fees and charges when this money could be used to sustain local services is negligent use of the county council’s diminishing resources.

You have to question which school our councillors went to and who taught them maths. Council tax-payers were under the illusion that our councillors and council employees were employed and paid to make such decisions, however difficult they might be. Instead they have now paid out almost £1m to PWC for what seems to be obvious to most of us.

Now they are going for a maximum five per cent council tax rise, once again, so it will give them an additional £620,000 to spend on services. The council’s actions in this matter give the impression that they only know how to spend money and when it comes to savings and cuts they are desperate to pass the responsibility to someone else.

Yours etc
