A SCINTILLATING six-figure sum has caused early seasonal celebrations in Meirionnydd.
Four neighbours in Blaenau Ffestiniog got a big surprise when People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador Matt Johnson arrived with cheques for £25,000, thanks to their lucky postcode.
LL41 4AF was drawn as a winner on Tuesday, 5 December, landing everyone who plays with it the fantastic prize.
Eric Atkinson, 56, was joined by his wife Sue when he was presented with his cheque.
He said: “£25,000 from a knock on the door – I can’t believe it! I saw an advert and thought I might as well give it a try, since it’s for charity. Charities get a lot, and now I’ve got a lot too! My sister and daughter both live on the street too but don’t play; I bet they’ll be signing up now.”
The three other Manod Road winners were not home to receive their cheques.
One of the lucky winners also landed the keys to a brand new BMW.
Matt Johnson, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, said: “What a treat to visit beautiful north Wales with some lovely big cheques. It was fantastic to meet Eric and Sue today, and £25,000 for all of the winners just before Christmas – Nadolig Llawen a llongyfarchiadau!”
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £246 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A nearby cause that has received support from players is Snowdonia National Park Authority, which was awarded £1,800 last year to run a beekeeping course and improve the environment for bees in the area.
