ABERDYFI Rowing Club has bought a new boat with the help of a legacy left to them by a long-term member.

The club has purchased a Teifi Skiff named ‘Flying Fish’ which was bought with the help of £500 from former ARC member Ron Franks who died in June, 2013.

Club Chairman Mike Rogers said: “Ron was a stalwart member of our club who is greatly missed – he was very involved with Aberdyfi Rowing Club, was popular, loyal and reliable and acted as chairman and also Bosun during his time with us.

“We are very fortunate that Ron left us a legacy in his will which he wanted to go towards something in particular that would be encouraging for the youth of our club.”

“We spent quite a long time deciding on the best use of Ron’s legacy but feel that we have now chosen something that Ron would be very happy with.”
