Record-breaking Machynlleth motorcyclist Nick Sanders will set off on his latest circumnavigation of the world as he looks to raise money for a charity that provides transport for health workers in Africa.
Nick, who has ridden around the world seven times already, will set off on his eighth journey from Machynlleth High Street tomorrow, travelling to Buckingham Palace to be presented with his MBE, before launching the fundraising journey.
As part of his latest expedition, which will see him travel 100,000km, Nick will be raising money for charity 2wheels for life, which helps provide two-wheeled transport for doctors and nurses in rural Africa, and is hoping he could raise around £50,000.
Nick said: “The charity is new to me but big in the motorcycle world, and I think because of getting my award it might help raise money for a great cause.”
The latest expedition will launch from Machynlleth High Street’s Dyfi Roastery with Nick saying he wanted to support the local high street.
He said: “I’m leaving from a coffee shop on the High Street, not London, because I believe in my High Street and want to give it a bit of a boost.
“Places like the Dyfi Roastery make us want to spend locally, they are the beating heart of any community.”
Nick’s latest journey is expected to take around eight months and will see him travel the length of Indonesia and Borneo, as well as the Australian bush.
