A PORTHMADOG resident has slammed flytippers after bags were dumped by a layby.

Richard Perry came across over half a dozen black bin bags full of rubbish that had been thrown into the undergrowth at the back of the layby in Treflys.

He spotted the bags on Thursday, 17 June, when moving into the layby to allow an oncoming car to go past, but he believes the bags had been there for some time.

Richard told the Cambrian News about the rubbish and said there is “no excuse” for whoever is responsible for dumping the bags where they did.

He said: “I pulled over into the lay-by to let traffic coming in both direction pass, it’s basically a single-track road, I could see seven large black bin bags just beyond the layby.

“There may be more in the undergrowth, but I didn’t go investigating. I haven’t reported it to the anyone as yet, but will be mentioning it to a local councillor I know.

“It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can deliberately dump bags of rubbish in such an area - what do they think is going to happen to it?

“Whatever the contents are, there is no reason or excuse for not using the service to proper facilities provided for rubbish disposal.”

Richard believes that those responsible have no appreciation for the environment around the town.

He added: “Whoever is responsible for this has absolutely no love, care or appreciation of the wonderfully beautiful environment we are so privileged to have and enjoy here in this part of Wales.

“Nor do they have they any thoughts or concern for the future world we will be handing to the next generations.”

Gwynedd Council has been asked to comment.
