Madam,

As a recent student at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth, I relied on local bus services, as did former student Prof Hywel Teifi Edwards, to travel to Aberystwyth from Ponterwyd and Ynyslas.

Recent changes to the timetables of these publicly-funded routes now mean there are no buses operating after 6pm in the evenings.

I would like to remind everyone that this country pays millions of pounds to the European Union, yet there are no funds available for local people who rely on public services to live modestly.

I also remember the European Union did not help fund the restoration of Aberystwyth promenade after the storm. The needs of local people must come first.

Yours etc,

Stuart Chappell,

Shaftesbury Road,

Mere.
