Madam,

As the wife of a candidate in this week’s county council elections, I read the letters from Louise Hughes (Has writer shot himself in the foot over councillor shortage?) and Morgan Vaughan (Don’t aim straight for the top) with great interest.

I have nothing but admiration for those who put themselves forward for such service to their communities, whether as Independents or as representatives of a political party to whose ideology they adhere.

We in Tywyn are lucky enough to have four excellent candidates whose qualities, dedication and experience, both here and elsewhere in the the UK, admirably equip them to represent our diverse community, one which appreciates long local service but also welcomes those who have chosen to make their home in a town they love and seek to serve.
