Car registration restrictions on taking rubbish to recycling centres across Ceredigion are to be scrapped from next week.

Ever since the recycling centres reopened in June last year, limits have been put on which vehicles can visit the centres with evenly numbered registration plates allowed to attend on even dates, and odd numbered plates on odd dates.

Ceredigion County Council has announced this afternoon that the rule will be scrapped from Monday, 1 November.

A council spokesperson said: “The latest review, which takes into account the reduced use of the sites over the winter period, has resulted in some changes which will take effect on 1 November. The changes are as follows:

“The odd and even registration number plate system will be suspended, and the opening hours will revert to pre-coronavirus.”

All other measures remain in place and residents are reminded to respect the site attendants and follow instructions on site. All of the coronavirus control measures and site rules will continue to be reviewed and are subject to change.

Household waste sites in Ceredigion are provided for the use of Ceredigion residents only. Site users are reminded that they may be asked to provide proof of residency.

Opening hours are as follows: Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Cardigan, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays, 10am to 3pm; Llanarth, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
