A LLANON pensioner has described how he was left stranded at a bus stop after the T5 TrawsCymru service “sailed past” when its driver apparently failed to spot him.

Dennis Slocombe, 75, who is registered disabled, believes new glass panels on the shelter may have obscured him from the driver’s vision.

Mr Slocombe’s wife, Sue, said her husband had intended to catch TrawsCymru’s T5 service to Aberaeron which left Llanrhystud at 10.33am.

“As it was raining and he is disabled, he sat in the shelter near Bont Estate, opposite the baker, to wait for the bus,” she said.

“However, as the bus approached the stop it didn’t slow down and passed him before he could get from the shelter.

“The problem is, I think, that Ceredigion County Council has ‘renewed’ the glass panels and it is therefore difficult for the driver to see any passengers who may be in the shelter and it is also difficult for the passengers to see the arrival of the bus."

A Ceredigion council spokesperson said: “The council has recently undertaken some refurbishment work on a number of bus shelters. In light of the reported incident the council will be contacting local bus operators to make them aware of it."
