‘Shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted’ comes to mind on reading about Ceredigion County Council ‘working on the details of returning safe zones in the town centre’.

The frequent closure of shops in the town centre is disturbing news, therefore it would be good to know how the council proposes to attract new occupants, preferably local businesses. Also, are we going to see ‘safe lanes’ for the proposed ‘Boris bikes’ hire scheme for the town centre?

Bearing in mind Ceredigion’s senior population, the ‘safe zones’ will again prove inconvenient for visits to banks, building societies, hairdressers etc.

Perhaps the ‘Boris bikes’ scheme will solve that problem. Septuagenarians and octogenarians - on your bikes!
