A FORMER resident has bequeathed £100,000 to an Aberaeron old people’s home, the Cambrian News can reveal.
And a local councillor has said that the generous legacy fund will not be used for any other purpose than for the benefit of the home and its residents.
The Min y Môr home has been bequeathed over £100,000 following the death of a former resident.
And Cllr Elizabeth Evans has said that the town will do everything it can to avoid a repeat of a £1m donation to the town’s former hospital being lost when the facility closed.
Cllr Evans said that the town “will not allow this to happen again, ever”.
The £1m legacy left by a local benefactor to the former cottage hospital in Aberaeron was lost when the building was closed and services transferred to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth at the turn of the century.
The £100,000 legacy left to Min y Môr is currently in the hands of Ceredigion council, but Cllr Evans has made moves to form a Friends of Min y Môr group to handle the cash to make sure it is used for the purpose it was bequeathed for.
