Madam,

I fully concur with the lambasting Tywyn councillors received from Nick Bennett, the public service ombudsman for Wales (‘Ombudsman blasts warring councillors’, last week’s Cambrian News).

His remarks were spot on. These councillors seem to forget that members of the electorate have voted for them to sit on the town council, to serve as representatives of the people who voted for them.

Some of these councillors, and only a minority, are behaving like spoilt brats engaging in constant petty squabbles and backbiting and pursuing personal vendettas and imagined slights!

Children in nursery school are better behaved and act more adult.

Councillors in neighbouring towns like Barmouth, Dolgellau and Machynlleth work hard for their local communities.

But meanwhile Tywyn is stagnating and there is an air of perpetual apathy surrounding the town council here because nothing else gets done. Some of the people sitting on the council bring nothing to the table and do nothing for the town except pursue their own petty grievances and slights.

My advice to them is to grow up and act like proper councillors.

Do the job you are supposed to and for which you have been elected and bestow some civic pride so people can be proud of Tywyn.

Stop behaving like spoilt brats and grow up.

Yours etc,

Keith J Davies,

Cambrian Road,

Tywyn.
